Moving and grooving

KG is all over the place now.  She's moving around constantly.  Her crawling is getting better, but when she doesn't want to crawl she just rolls like crazy.  She can now go from sitting up to crawling and back to sitting up.  Quite the feat!

Snow days

We've been cooped up the past two days due to some snow.  Suprisingly, UNL closed yesterday (especially considering there was no snow on the ground when we woke up...but the storm made it's appearance around lunchtime!) so I didn't have to go to work  The snow started at 11am yesterday and Evie kept a watchful eye on the progress!

24 hours later...Friday at 10am

We had a nice couple days getting caught up around the house.  Our friends Brad and Charissa made the treck over to our house on Thursday to hang out before the snow really got started.  I even put Brad to work a little bit and had him help me hang some pictures!

Erik made us bocadillos (Spanish sandwiches) for lunch.  YUM!  And we enjoyed a little Spanish wine to add to the meal.

Home projects

I've been trying to get organized and get som much needed projects done around the house. First big project we tackled was painting KG's room. We moved in to a very nicely painted house, however, Keller's room was a tad too pink for my taste.

My sister inlaw, Nicole, came over last Sunday and we began the painting fiesta!  There was a little shelf above the closet that Nicole dominated.  This project was no match for her!

The next project in KG's room is to paint her dressers white and get things hung on the wall.  I'm hoping to do that in a couple weekends!  I will definitely post a picture when her room is officially done (5 months after moving in!)

Today, I got on the organizing high...thank goodness.  Some of this stuff was getting ridiculous.  Our hallway closet had gotten a little out of control with art supplies, toys, grocery bags, and tools.  I have a couple more things in mind for this closet but for now...much better.

And our kitchen has a little desk built in.  Because of that it ends up being a dumping ground (which drives me bonkers).  So today, I cleaned up the desk, drawers, and counters and got things a tad more organized.

I have a couple more ideas I still want to add to our desk area as well...let's see if it happens.  Maybe by posting this on here I will feel like I have to follow through with all my ideas.  I sure hope so!!

da-da!!

Well, Keller is a babbling machine!  She loves to say da-da!  And at times she even says ma-ma...but usually just da-da...as you can see here.  :)

Sick...boo

Well, overall this cold and flu season has hit our house fairly mildly. But last week KG started running a very high fever. She was still so smiley and happy so I defaulted to teething. But, Sunday night she didn't sleep well and still ran a fever so I decided to take her to the doctor. So glad I did because she had a double ear infection!

We started antibiotics right away. The first few days were pretty miserable and my usually happy and smiley baby was pretty down and slept a ton. We are on the upswing now thank goodness because seeing this sad face is heartbreaking for a mama!

Big girl!

I started this blog to document the milestones of our family..,so please be warned that this post is about potty training. And I am no ashamed. My sweet Evie is a big girl!!

I have waited to write this post all month because I was a little leery… But Evie is officially potty trained!

We had a rough few months of attempting potty training. But Evie made it very clear she wasn't having it. However, the days leading up to her birthday I told her that she would not get any more diapers after she turned three. So of course before her bday, if we asked her if she wanted to use the potty she would reply "not til my birthday in december!"

So the day after her birthday - we started the fun. She was extremely hesitant that morning and very emotional. We went to the doctor for her three year checkup. Dr. Bleicher had some great advice and chatted with Evie about being a big girl.

When we got home, Evie and I made a sticker chart. Her brand new package of princess stickers she picked out proved to be extra special! It took just one time and Evie never turned back. By the end of the day, her sticker chart was full.

We haven't had a single accident and use the potty every time since that day. She still wears diapers when she sleeps but typically wakes up dry. She's a rock star!

She made up her mind and hasn't looked back. Today, I'm thankful that she inherited that passionate demeanor from her parents...but hopefully that stubborn side of her subsides by the time she is 12.
