it's so hard for me to even write an update on evie. this is, by far, the best age. terrible twos...such a myth...at least from what we ar experiencing. of course we see a little attitude from time to time...but she is so entertaining it doesn't even matter. for example...every morning when we get evie out of her room, she comes upstairs and climbs into bed with erik. we turn on elmo or dora for her and she watches a bit of tv while erik tries to catch a few more moments of sleep and i get ready for work. one morning when they were laying in bed, erik was giving her a hard time and teasing her. she looked at him and said..."no daddy. go back to night night."
she's inquisitive and curious. this past weekend, evie came with me to a work bbq. she was going around asking everyone "what are you?!" ...meaning what is your name? she wanted nothing to do with mommy at the party. in fact, if i even made eye contact with her she would put her hand up and say "no mommy...stay back." apparently, she believes that i am the fun stomper. and she wanted none of it. she soaked in people letting her be the center of attention. pretty sweet watching her bounce from person to person. she investigated every thing in that back yard. the bird bath, the leaves, the flowers. and she made sure that someone was with her at all times to share those moments with...except mommy. ha.
one thing i have noticed, is she really enjoys pretend play now. we can sit in front of her little play kitchen and she makes us all sorts of food items. (daddy is thrilled she likes to pretend cook!) she plays independently very well. one day, we even found real popcorn inside her little fake microwave. she's a genius! hours are spent in front of her doll house. i can hear her talk to the baby the way i talk to her. "careful baby. you precious." "no no. it's hot." "ooooo poopies. change yerrr diaper! poopies go in big potty."
we find her animal friends setup like this frequently.
i'm looking forward to my maternity leave for many reasons. i can't wait to meet this new baby. but, i am thrilled to spend so many non-interrupted days (away from work) with evie!
