Our family of FIVE

Last weekend we went to an event out at Deer Springs Winery that hosted animal rescue organizations from the Nebraska. We've been thinking about getting a dog for the past year and thought it would be fun to go take the girls to meet some pups. We had a great time!  We stopped by R.U.F.F. Rescue's booth and met some wonderful dogs. But my heart was smitten with a little mini schnauzer named Riker.

We enjoyed talking to Riker's foster mom and dad and really felt like he was the guy for us. He was very timid but so sweet.

My friend Andrea was volunteering at the event so I told her to go meet him and send me her thoughts. She agreed...this guy's a keeper.

So we filled out an application that day. They reviewed and approved our application in less then 48 hours and we set up a home visit for Tuesday night.

We weren't sure if he was home for good that night or not, so, Andrea lent me a kennel and pillow just in case he was home forever. I stopped at petco for some little toys and the rescue volunteers arrived with Riker in tow. His foster mom came too. We sat together and chatted and he immediately bonded with Erik. Evie kept begging me to let him stay with us. And he did!! June 9, 2015 was his gotcha day and we couldn't be happier.

Riker is now Ryker and loved by our family already. He is very shy but is coming out of his shell!!

Our new vet, Dr. Ruppert is just wonderful!

Welcome home, Ryker. We love you. Oh, and thanks for not shedding and already knowing how to go potty outside.
