friday + friends

we had the pleasure of having the hansen family over for dinner on friday night. we've been going through a lot of the same life stuff as they have. andrew, erik & i were all on the worship team together before any of us got married. the hansens got married the summer before we did & they left lincoln around the same time we did for andrew to pursue his PhD in south bend. bethany & i both supported our husbands through school in a brand new city. we both got prego about the same time and now we have daughter's the same age. to top it off, we all just moved back home to lincoln....so our lives have situationally been incredibly similar for the past couple years. it was fun catching up and watching our girls, adeline & evie, meet each other for the first time. what a great time.

while we were in seattle, i really enjoyed watching adeline grow through bethany's blog and pictures. it was also nice to have another mom to chat with - even if it was through emails/blogs. now that we are all back in l-town, it was fun to do it "live" for the first time with our daughters holding hands and playing with one another. erik cooked up some yummy food for us- including bone marrow. i know that sounds disgusting but it actually was quite tastey! thank you bethany & andrew for being brave eaters! miss adeline, you are even cuter in person :)

i probably shouldn't have laughed as hard at this as i did...but i couldn't help myself. she was so cute. :)

happy father's day!

erik, you are the best daddy & husband. thank you for all you do for us.

to the other important men in evie's life...happy father's day! [don't worry grandpas - evie will enjoy bubbles & icecream soon!] :)

home sweet home

i feel super blessed to have family close to help us out with getting our home all set up. my sister.in.law ashley came over last week and we got our kitchen all cleaned and organized! its super cute with fun new green walls! it looks wonderful! we just need to get some things hung on the wall and we will be all set!

my parents came to visit this week to help me get some stuff accomplished around the house as well. we cleaned and cleaned and i finally feel like i can relax at home. the wood floors are scrubbed. the windows washed. the bathroom clean and tidy. thanks mom and dad for being so helpful!

next up...painting evie's room and getting her crib set up!

taking a break with grandpa to play with puppets :)

rolling, sitting, squealing

danger zone = the changing table.

evie is sitting, wiggling, rolling and moving all over the place! and of course she is is laughing and smiling while doing it! she loves her new playmat that her cousin asher let her borrow. i will leave her on the mat and the next minute i look over and she is all the way on the other side. it's so fun watching her move around to explore the world around her.

she gets stronger everyday and can even sit up on her own for a few short seconds. we spent the evening with evie's cousins savannah & adrienne. savannah helped evie practice sitting up and adrienne had fun rolling on the floor with evie. thanks, emily for having us over!

yummy in my tummy

our growing girl started eating solids this week! evie began this new venture with sweet potatoes - her face sweetly covered in orange by the end! she was a little confused at first but started to get the hang of it by the end. here are some pictures and a quick video of the experience!
