US Morocco Food Week

i can't really put to words how amazing our time in morocco was.  we had a fantastic 10 days exploring, eating, cooking, and meeting people.  erik spent time at several culinary schools, cooking clubs, etc.  he taught people american dishes (biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplings, cornbread) and then the moroccan hosts would teach him a moroccan dish.  it was so fun!

we loved seeing four different cities.  we first went to fez, then tangier, then rabat, then marrakesh, then back to rabat.  it was a whirlwind.  we had an awesome crew who we spent our time with and stayed at some of the most beautiful hotels.  the US Ambassador to Morocco was an exceptional host and we had a blast at the reception at his home.  erik made some awesome hors d'oeuvres for the event.

my favorite day was in marrakesh.  we spent the morning with a women's cooking school.  they were amazing.  the rest of the day was spent with Chef Moha.  he took us to the medina to buy spices then out to his farm (which is more like a resort!).  after that, he took us to his restaurant and treated us to an assortment of items off his menu.  there were over 25 different dishes to try.  it was incredible.  he was one of the most entertaining people we met.  so much fun.

at the end of the week there was a chef showcase and erik competed against Chef Halima.  she was the previous winner of Morocco's Master Chef.  what a blast!

JJ made the week.  we loved our time with him.  can't wait to visit him again!
