it is amazing how your mind can go completely irrational in such a short time. you know the friends episode when ross & rachel lock themselves out of the apartment with their baby inside? yes...that was me. worrying about a bird swooping in to the apartment & picking up evie out of her crib...wow. i was thinking about running to the closet to get a hammer to break down the door since the hinges are on the other side. i was thinking about how we could get a ladder to climb up to the second story and break the window in to her bedroom. or how we'd have to call a locksmith or the fire dept to get in to the nursery for us.

Jess and Erik, I am positive that my dad did something worse than that.
ReplyDeleteA story for you.
When my brother Mike was 2 weeks old, my mom was rocking him in the middle of the night, and she was so tired that she fell asleep while rocking him. She woke up suddenly and was so freaked out that she could have dropped him that she woke up my dad to take care of Mike. So my dad was bundling mike up and getting situated in our big lazy boy recliner, and he jostled mike too much in the blankets, and mike flew out of the blankets over the back of the lazy boy. Straight on his head. 2 weeks old.
he survived. and he's only semi-special.
anyways, thought you might be encouraged by that...? haha, not sure if that's going to freak you out or make you feel better.
OMGoodness Jess! I can imagine the thoughts that went through your head. At least you were still in the apartment. Give her kisses for us. Take care.
ReplyDeletewhen did her eyes turn brown?! she's just gorgeous! (just like her little outfit says!)
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine the panic that hit you in that moment, but I'm glad everything is ok.
ReplyDeleteThough not at the same level of terrifying, I locked myself out of my apartment yesterday while I was baking bread. There was only 8 minutes left on the baking time and I was going to run down and start a load of laundry and as the door shut behind me and I realized my keys were inside, I imagined the building burning to the ground and me running frantically up and down the halls to get my neighbors out. Fortunately my landlord came in 10 minutes and everything was fine.
