US Morocco Food Week

i can't really put to words how amazing our time in morocco was.  we had a fantastic 10 days exploring, eating, cooking, and meeting people.  erik spent time at several culinary schools, cooking clubs, etc.  he taught people american dishes (biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplings, cornbread) and then the moroccan hosts would teach him a moroccan dish.  it was so fun!

we loved seeing four different cities.  we first went to fez, then tangier, then rabat, then marrakesh, then back to rabat.  it was a whirlwind.  we had an awesome crew who we spent our time with and stayed at some of the most beautiful hotels.  the US Ambassador to Morocco was an exceptional host and we had a blast at the reception at his home.  erik made some awesome hors d'oeuvres for the event.

my favorite day was in marrakesh.  we spent the morning with a women's cooking school.  they were amazing.  the rest of the day was spent with Chef Moha.  he took us to the medina to buy spices then out to his farm (which is more like a resort!).  after that, he took us to his restaurant and treated us to an assortment of items off his menu.  there were over 25 different dishes to try.  it was incredible.  he was one of the most entertaining people we met.  so much fun.

at the end of the week there was a chef showcase and erik competed against Chef Halima.  she was the previous winner of Morocco's Master Chef.  what a blast!

JJ made the week.  we loved our time with him.  can't wait to visit him again!

disney 2015

we had the most amazing week at disney world!  my parents took our family and my brother & sister.in.law.  minus the fact we passed around the respiratory crud, we had a blast.  the days were packed full.

orlando was definitely good to us and we enjoyed minimal rain + 70 degree days!  we found out that evie is a thrill seeker and wanted to ride all the fast rides!  jess experienced the tower of terror (literally) for the first time...this was monumental as i am terrified of heights (thanks to steph for pushing me to do this!)  keller slept in her stroller for the first time (sickies + disney exhaustion).  we met tons of characters and got lots of autographs!

the 2nd generation ( jess, bret, erik, kim) got to enjoy an evening out and went to dinner, played at the disney arcade, and to a cirque show in downtown disney.  our last evening was spent at the polynesian resort at a Hawaiian luau "Spirit of the Aloha."

Christmas 2014

Haggar Christmas was special this year as it was the first Christmas in Lincoln.  Uncle Bret and Aunt came to visit and we had some fun filled days!  We went to Christmas Eve service together, opened presents, ate a yummy Christmas meal, went to a movie (Hobbit), and enjoyed a waffle breakfast!  The girls got spoiled!

Hustad Christmas was celebrated on New Years Day as we have two families who live out of state now.  We also spent some good time with our Ohio and Colorado Hustads at the Children's Museum.   The cousins loved their time together and didn't stop moving!  We enjoyed a soup dinner and wonderful time together!

five years old

My darling girl. Happy birthday. You've grown into a little person this year.  We love your joy and energy.

At five years old, you have a vivid imagination!  You love your little sister. You love to sing and play with your friends. Your favorite foods are watermelon, apples, pancakes, and lasagna. You love all things Disney and are beyond stoked to go visit Mickey and friends in a few short weeks. You are cuddly and loving. You love to play outside!  You ask for candy and the iPad every night. Your favorite colors are pink and purple. You love to bake and help us in the kitchen. You weigh 36 lbs and are 43 inches tall. You had to get glasses this year and picked out some styling purple specs all by yourself.  You can count to 100 with little help.

Bun-Bun and your blankie are ever out of sight.  You can get ready all by yourself and love to be a helper.  You like to teach Keller how to do things. You especially love to build forts and play hide and seek with your sis. You've gotten a little braver this year and aren't as afraid of big slides - yet it does take you a little while to get comfortable doing new things.  You can carry on a conversation with just about anyone.  You are really enjoying preschool at Messiah.

You are fierce, Evie dear. Your sensitive spirit keeps mommy and daddy in check and we love you for it. You've captured our hearts. You are kind and constantly remind us how much you love us.  Sweet Evie, we love you to the moon and back.
