GI Checkup

It's been three-ish months since we had an appointment at Children's. We made the trip up to Omaha to meet with KG's GI specialists. As fate may have it, Uncle Jason, who's in his third year of med school, was doing a rotation at Children's. Even better...he was in GI. And even more exciting he was working with OUR doctor!!! So we got to see him for lunch before KG's appointment AND he sat in during our appointment!! So needless to say...we had extra special care today.

KG's numbers overall continue to improve however the liver enzymes are still a bit high. Her doctors are extremely happy with her growth but want to be aware of everything. So since it has been almost six months since she had an ultrasound they want to get another look at her liver and spleen. So next week we will make our way back up to Omaha for that appointment. We are remaining positive and believe that happy baby also means healthy liver.

I will update when we get the results her ultrasound. Surprisingly I'm feeling calm about it all. But as always we covet your prayers!!!

evie's third birthday party

today we celebrated evie's third birthday.  what a wonderful day filled with fun, friends, family, and ELMO!!

we started our day by taking evie to sesame street live.  it was just mommy and daddy with evie and she had no idea we were going there.  clearly she was thrilled when we walked into the auditorium.  she spent the entire 90 minute show dancing and singing and BEGGING elmo to come over and give her a kiss.  it was the sweetest thing!

we came home and were joined by evie's family and friends.  we continued with our sesame street fun-filled day.  our family friend linda made the most adorable cupcakes for evie's party!

evie had all of her besties there and wow did these gals have fun today!  it was so fun seeing these girls play together!

haggar family christmas 2012

We were so lucky to be able to go to South Dakota for Christmas this year. We were able to spend some wonderful quality time with Mimi, Papa, Uncle Bret, Aunt Kim, and Great Grandma Cooper. Feeling blessed that Bret, Kim, and Grandma Cooper finally got to meet Keller.  What a wonderful four days!

Evie got a couple early Christmas presents and she was STOKED.  She got a princess dress (which she didn't take off the whole week!) and a JEEP!  She's now a JEEP girl just like her daddy and mommy.

On Christmas Eve we went to the candlelight service.  Evie loved singing all of the songs and swayed back and forth to the music.

silent night.  holy night.

After church, we went to Mimi and Papas and opened presents. Of course everyone was spoiled with love. My sister in law Kim knit the girls the most beautiful sweaters. I will have to capture a picture with them wearing them soon. Adorable.

and don't worry...evie helped EVERYONE open their presents.

We had a wonderful Christmas day dinner and Grandma and I got whooped in cards by my dad and brother. Not my finest moment.

card pro.  love her.

the rest of our time was spent relaxing and enjoying one another.  loved every moment.

Both of the girls were troopers while traveling. It is a pretty long car ride for a three year old and 7 month old but they did pretty well.

three years old

Parents often reflect when their child hits a milestone. I'm no different. Evie Ailene turned three today. I'm still trying to figure out how it went by so quickly but that is an impossible task.

Sweet Evie, there are not enough words to describe how much joy you bring to our lives. Everyday, your personality continues to explode. I'm in awe of your empathy and compassion. Even at three years old you know how to love people better than many adults I know. You remember everybody you meet by name and will talk about them and miss them when they are gone. You see the good in everyone. Evie, your joy and energy are contagious.

At three years old, you love to dance and sing. You know dozens of songs. You are an adventurous girly girl who loves to wear a crown and a superhero cape. At your three year checkup you weighed 27.8 lbs and were 37 inches tall.  You know all of your letters and are learning the sounds each make. You can count to 15 and know your colors and shapes. Your favorite food is bananas and you r favorite movies are the Lorax and Cinderella. You like to bake and paint pictures. You love to play hide and go seek. You have an affection for many things (books, animals, suckers) and tell us how much you love them. You dance whenever any music comes on twirl anytime you are wearing a dress.

You love your baby sister and show her so much love and affection. You are so thoughtful with Keller. You and your blankie are inseparable and your favorite toys ("your guys") are bunny, baby Elmo, and rainbow bear. You enjoy drawing and playing outside. You are very cautious at the park. You like to brush your teeth and wash your hands by yourself. You adamantly pick out your own clothes and get dressed by yourself. You like to play games on the iPad. Your imagination is endless as we run from the robots and hide from the sharks. You love looking at pictures of all the people you care about.

You don't like when people yell or have mean spirited things to say. You correct us if we use "not nice" words. You hug us if we seem sad or are crying and comfort us and tell us it will be okay. You refuse to let anyone leave or say goodbye without a hug and kiss.

You remember everything. And at the end of the day, you always remember to thank Jesus for all of those things.

We thank God for blessing us with your bubbly, charismatic, boisterous, fiery, feisty, passionate, and loving spirit. You are going to be a world changer, Evie. We love you to pieces little miss.
