Immigration Approval

We received the official document from USCIS and we have received immigration approval!

This was the final step to our dossier and it is now in our agency's hands. They will send it to DC for final US approval then it heads to Haiti's gov't (IBESR). We will wait to find out when we officially "enter IBESR" but expect that to be January 2016.

The timeline for referral/match will likely be 2-2.5 years. So we pray for our babe(s) in Haiti. They may or may not be born yet. They may be sick. They may be thriving at Rivers of Hope.

We know and believe God will uniquely and purposefully weave our family together.  Until then...we wait. I pray that the peace I feel right now can last during this long wait!!!

six years old

Evie girl.  You amaze me with your sweet spirit.  You are such a kind soul and a wonderful friend.  Your energy is contagious.  It's such a joy to be on this adventure with you.

At six years old, you ask the best questions and love soaking in the world around you. You love to dance and play with your friends. You know everyone by name.  Your favorite foods are pasta, strawberries, and pancakes. You have a new favorite thing...MARIO.  Your favorite colors are pink, purple, and blue. You love to bake and help us in the kitchen. You weigh 38 lbs and are 46 inches tall.  You still sleep with your blankie every night.  You graduated from preschool in May and began kindergarten in August.  You've started to read and love learning new words and sounds.  You started vision therapy in August and graduated in December.

You earned an award for being a kind and helpful friend at school.  You are a little leader and like to teach your little sister and friends how to do things.  You LOVE Lola and are such a great helper with her.  You are still very cautious when swimming but you grow more confident every time you enter the water.  You get ready in the morning with very little help.  You love when mommy and daddy read to you.  Our new favorite stories are the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.  You love watching movies and eating popcorn.  You love popsicles.

You teach us to be more patient and to take things slower.  You remind us when we forget things and help keep mommy and daddy aware of our temperament.  Even though you are a sensitive spirit, you have just the right amount of sass.  You are so funny and love to make up jokes and rhymes.

Evie, you are going to be a world changer.  We are so beyond proud of you.  Thanks for not being afraid to be you.  Love you, sweet girl.

Hustad Family Christmas 2015

We had a wonderful Christmas with both sides of our family!  We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with the Haggar clan.  We went to church and opened up presents on Christmas Eve.  Then Christmas Day we ate a big meal, decorated gingerbread houses, and went to see Star Wars (Mimi stayed home with the girlies).  On the 26th we celebrated with the Hustad crew.  Such chaos.  Such fun!  Loved every moment of the celebration and thanking the Lord for the ultimate gift.
