keep on keepin on...

my belly is certainly growing. i'm already almost 13 weeks.  i wore a skirt today that i couldn't zip up all the way. most of my pants are pretty snug. sometimes i feel like i'm imagining the growth but then i look down and there is this very obvious bump.

according to babycenter.com the baby is now the size of a lime.  crazy to think that in just 9 short weeks we have gone from the size of a poppy seed to a lime.

people said it would happen & it is. i've entered in to the 2nd trimester & it's like clockwork. i feel fantastic. my energy has rapidly increased. case in point...it is almost 11pm & i am wide awake after being up since 7:45 this morning. 3 weeks ago if i had gotten up at 9am i would have taken a two hour nap in the afternoon & would have been in bed no later than 9pm. so this is like a miracle to have this much energy & to be feeling this good!

patience is a virtue. bleh!

i am probably the most inpatient person i know.  so the thought of waiting another 6.5 months is ridiculous!!!  i understand the bun has to be in the oven to cook...but my oh my...i hope the end of the year hurries this way.  i feel like a little kid waiting for christmas.

i'm sure there are many women out there laughing at me right now thinking "just you wait, it only gets worse."  i just want to meet this little bean.  the baby is growing.  i can tell b/c my waistline is following this path.  the baby is already an inch & a half long!!!!!

we are almost through the first trimester and i can already tell i have more energy.  i finally folded clothes this weekend.  i laugh as i write this b/c i have been very lazy & hardly able to move...and my husband has had to pay the price.  i literally have done NOTHING up until this weekend...

thanks honey for not caring that all our clean clothes went on the spare room's floor.  thanks for never complaining that i leave my shoes scattered all over the house or that i never pick up my dishes.  thanks for not moaning and groaning that our bathroom is a disaster zone.  thanks for getting up every time i ask for a glass of water, or juice, or something to eat.  thanks for ALWAYS doing the dishes & keeping our kitchen clean.  thank you for serving faithfully.  you are the best & you are going to be an amazing father.  i love you, erik.

the heartbeat

today was so amazing. we heard that pitter patter & it was beautiful! hard to believe & completely moving all at the same time. people told me that is when i'd finally "feel" pregnant. they were completely right. erik tried to get a video so we could let everyone else have a listen...but it didn't work out so well. all i can say is...amazing.

we finally made the "big announcement." i think my dad is the most excited to share the news!!!! wow. i plan to tell my faculty at work this week as well - who i already know will be incredibly supportive! :)

the world's cutest alien

although this picture is a little alien like...still amazing at how quickly the baby is growing. the baby is already the size of a kumquat...quite a difference from a kidney bean.

still feeling great. i feel pretty lucky that my only symptom is exhaustion. no room to complain whatsoever. wednesday is the big day! can't wait to hear the pitter patter of our little one's heart!!! :)

so tired

only a month to go before 1st trimester is over.  everyone tells me that 2nd trimester is the best. and i simply can not wait because i am utterly EXHAUSTED.  all the time.

tired.

yawning.

fatigued.

bleh.

but its exciting.  babycenter.com sends me weekly updates about how big the baby is.  last week the baby was the size of a blueberry.  and now this week the size of a kidney bean.

erin is here visiting & we've been analyzing my "maybe pouch" that is starting.  so we took my first tummy pictures.

i'm only 8 1/2 weeks so you can't really see anything is too different, but i can.  weird.  its just surreal.  completely surreal.

haven't had any weird cravings or anything.  i had my first touch of nausea this weekend when i was home in sd...but nothing serious.  2 weeks to go until we hear the heartbeat.  :)

a new day in the world of erik & jess

as if one test wasn't enough.  so begins the life of baby h.  :)

i met the doctor for the first time last week.  things went really well.  next months appointment will be even more exciting b/c we will get to hear the heartbeat for the first time.  so far i'm feeling great.  no morning sickness at all yet - just a little more tired then normal.

how surreal.  how crazy.  how exciting.
