At the beginning of the summer, I joined some friends from work in a running program called Beginner's Luck. Every week we got together and ran as a group. Running has never been my thing. In fact, I have always hated running. I did one race in September of 2014. It was rough, so I had no idea why I signed up for Beginner's Luck. Then...I won a pair of free shoes and figured I needed to get a few more miles on them. So, somehow I convinced myself to sign up for the Good Life Halfsy (13.1 miles). What was I thinking?! Four months later...I ran my first half marathon.
So thankful for friends who were uber supportive during the training process. My friends at work consistently ran with me to keep me in shape after Beginner's Luck ended. And my friend Steph stuck by my side on the weekends and then ran the half with me. She kept me upright during those 13.1 miles and I am so grateful because it was rough. Although I was a little bummed with how my body held up during the race, I was so happy to finish!
What an experience. But, I would be lying if I didn't say I am SO relieved it is over!
Beginner's luck 5k race in July
Cameya. What a great friend! She has ran with me almost every weekend!!
Work pals who made Beginner's Luck fun! The running...not so much :)
Training had to happen even when I traveled. Denver's altitude about killed me.
Injury prevention at it's finest.
Zechmann's + long runs. So thankful for these people.
Proof that I smiled a few times...
End scene. Thank goodness!
Cheering squad! So thankful!
I was hurting so bad at the end of the race. As Steph and I were only .10 from the finish I saw my family. I immediately started crying and cried all the way through the finish. Thanks, Ashley for capturing Steph and me at the end of this!
Steph, couldn't have done this without you. Thanks for being by my side!
