one month old

our sweet baby girl is one month old already! she has already changed & grown so much.

this past month…

• evie is now just over 8 lbs & over 20 inches long. she is in the 25th percentile for her age/size.
• she is very alert during her wake times & is able to focus on faces & different objects. she watches the giraffes on her crib mobile dance around.
• grandma & grandpa haggar came to visit & evie now misses them terribly.
• evie is starting to grab things with her sweet little hands.
• mommy has been pooped on twice.
• she is sleeping 3-4 hour stretches at night.
• her neck is growing stronger everyday. she HATES tummy time unless she is laying on mommy or daddy's chest.
• evie is in love with her swing, white noise, & being swaddled.
• she is able to tell mommy’s voice & will follow it across a room.
• evie is still in newborn diapers but wears a few 0-3 month clothes.
• evie made her first trip to the nail salon with mommy.
• evie’s nicknames are monkey, peanut, burrito, pumpkin pie, poopyface, & miss e.

can't get enough of miss evie. we are so in love with her.

who locks their baby in the nursery when they are standing on the outside? erik & i. my heart was instantly in my throat & i was panicked. evie was crying in her crib & i was pacing while erik tried to break back in to the nursery.

it is amazing how your mind can go completely irrational in such a short time. you know the friends episode when ross & rachel lock themselves out of the apartment with their baby inside? yes...that was me. worrying about a bird swooping in to the apartment & picking up evie out of her crib...wow. i was thinking about running to the closet to get a hammer to break down the door since the hinges are on the other side. i was thinking about how we could get a ladder to climb up to the second story and break the window in to her bedroom. or how we'd have to call a locksmith or the fire dept to get in to the nursery for us.

but erik got the nursery open with a hair pin - thank goodness. needless to say...erik taped down the lock so it can't happen again.

erik & i are being welcomed in to the parent club. sleep deprivation is for sure, but so worth every moment. evie has brought us so much joy already. my parents arrived on wednesday night and it has been such a huge help! they are loving the time they get to hug, squeeze, kiss, & love on their first grandbaby. and i am loving the extra naps! :)

bringing evie home

its been a wonderful [yet exhausting] week at home. we left the hospital on monday evening & had our first "all-nighter" with an infant. evie, wasn't in the mood for sleeping....to say the least. :) but she was cute as a button when we finally fell asleep & even cuter when she woke up the next morning.
