10 things i love about being a mom

bethany posted this on her blog & i just loved the things she had to say. it was so very encouraging. i thought i'd try to put my thoughts down as well - although these sort of things are always difficult for me b/c i'm afraid of leaving something out. so, with that said...i LOVE being a mom & know that i will be missing lots of favorites after i write out these 10.

1: i love picking evie up after i get off work. its my favorite part of the day. she always welcomes me with a HUGE smile & shrieks in delight upon my arrival. makes my heart melt.

2: i secretly love when she is crying or upset in someone elses arms...but the second i come to her rescue she is smiling again. i love being her comfort.

3: evie's belly laughs, shrieks, giggles, screams, & overall joyful noises she makes. as bethany mentioned in her blog...i will do the most embarrassing things to provoke any of these sweet sounds.

4: her face when i come in to her room after she has woken up from her nap. her legs will frantically kick with excitement just knowing that i am there.

5: breastfeeding has been such a trying yet rewarding experience. although i have wanted to quit on multiple occasions [especially when she grabs my face, pulls my hair, or scratches my eyes...] i wouldn't trade these precious moments for anything.

6: watching evie's face when erik walks in to the room. her big smile & giggles when her daddy hugs her and snuggles with her. her happy "dance" when he leans in to give her a kiss.

7: watching erik fall more & more in love with his daughter every day. the fact that i know he would literally do anything for her. knowing erik understands evie's cries, needs, wants just as well as - if not better than - i do.

8: seeing evie soak in the world around her. like when grammie & grandpa appear magically on the computer screen when we skype - and she leans in as far as she can trying to touch their faces.

9: having everyone tell us that evie is the perfect blend of erik & i.

10: our bedtime routine. watching evie splash in her bath & scream with excitement when the water hits her face. singing songs as we put on evie's pajamas & how she begins to rub her eyes just knowing its about time to go sleep. snuggling & singing amazing grace just before her head hits her bed. watching her pull her blankie over her face & pulling it down quickly to see me before i say "nite nite." seeing her watch me walk out the door & not looking away until i am out of sight..and then...secretly watching evie through the crack of the door - as she plays play peek-a-boo with her best friend mr. softbear and talks to him telling him its time for bed...just before she falls fast asleep.

teething = unhappiest baby on the block

we are blessed with a very mild tempered, happy baby most of the time. but evie is most certainly grumpier these days. her poor little gums are so sore as those sharp teeth are attempting to cut through. we can see those pearly whites getting closer...i just hope its sooner rather than later for her sake...

in the mean time - our new teething solution is a slice of cucumber.

this toothless grin sure does melt my heart though...

bounce bounce bounce

evie spends her afternoons over with my friend jena and her three kiddos. she has lots of fun playing with them - and LOVES the bouncer they have!

hustads + henry doorly zoo

we had a wonderful day last sunday! the hustad clan made their way up to omaha to enjoy the henry doorly zoo & what a great time we had. [minus the fact evie refused to nap in her stroller.] the weather was HOT HOT HOT but it was worth it!!

hustads + sushi

This is how the Hustad's do family dinners...
